All UnidosUS Affiliates are invited to apply for the 2020 LGBTQ Champion Award!

The UnidosUS LGBTQ Champion Award recognizes an UnidosUS Affiliate organization with exceptional leadership and a commitment to the LGBTQ community. For 2020, one Affiliate organization will be honored with the LGBTQ Champion Award including a$5,000 cash award, recognition virtually through social media and at a virtual award ceremony during LGBTQ history month on October 27th, 2020.

Every Fall, UnidosUS convenes its Affiliates for two days of Affiliate-led workshops, networking, and leadership development trainings. This year, the Fall Affiliate Convening will be virtual, and will bring Affiliates together to strategize and organize our Network around important issues disproportionally affecting Latinos: the socioeconomic impact of COVID-19 in our community, the importance of allyship on racial inequity, and the presidential election--all which affirm our resiliency as a community to meet the moment.

The Virtual Fall Affiliate Convening is open to all Affiliate staff at no cost. We are working with your Affiliate Council representatives to develop dynamic agendas that will include Affiliate voices on resilient leadershipBe sure to join us!

UnidosUS Webinar: Solutions to Escalating Housing Challenges during COVID-19

Join us this Thursday, October 8, at 12:00pm Eastern, for Solutions to Escalating Housing Challenges during COVID-19: Local responses to a National Crisis.  Participants will learn about local strategies to tackle on-going housing challenges impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the implications of these responses for the nation’s own housing crisis. Speakers will include John Martinez, Executive Director of Centro Campesino, Dr. Ned Murray, AICP Associate Director  of the Florida International University Jorge M. Perez Metropolitan Center , as well as Agatha So, Senior Policy Analyst with UnidosUS.

The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) from the Small Business Administration provided small employers a loan to keep their workforce employed during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis.

If you would like to tell us about your experience with the loan program or receive updates on it, please sign up here . In addition, please ensure you are also keeping communication with your lender on your specific PPP loan.

Updated Voting Resources: UnidosUS ¡Adelante! 2020 Digital Tool Kit

Have you seen the latest updates to the UnidosUS¡Adelante!2020 site at ? There you can find “Make your plan to vote” resources in English and Spanish, with links to state-by-state rules. You can also access and share the bilingual digital toolkit. .

Use social media, we’ve made it easy with this toolkit including sample posts with corresponding graphics and videos ready to download and post in English and Spanish! We’ve included posts on the power of the Latino Vote, Become a Voter, and How to Vote. Tag @WeAreUnidosUS and use #AffiliatesUnidos. These are some examples:’

Economic Impact Payments: Guide for Intermediaries – Deadline extended to Nov 21

Help People Claim Their Economic Impact Payments. People who have not claimed their Economic Impact Payments (EIPs) may need to use the IRS non-filer tool before it closes on November 21, 2020. EIPs are commonly referred to as “stimulus checks.” Most adults over 18 are eligible for $1,200 or more. You can help your clients claim the EIP and receive their payments during this challenging economic time.

UnidosUS hosted a webinar with representatives from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) to share EIP tools and resources. If you missed it, you can find a recording of the webinar  explaining the toolkit here.

Webinar & Resources: CDC’s New Evictions Moratorium

On September 4, a nationwide halt on evictions  was put in place by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) to address the current public health and eviction crises.

Our friends at National CAPACD and the National Housing Law Project will host a session for direct service providers, community organizers and housing advocates, on the moratorium, including information for those working with immigrants and directly impacted community members. La Unión del Pueblo Entero (LUPE): Featured in “Aquí y Ahora” (Spanish)

UnidosUS Affiliate LUPE was featured in the investigative report program "Aquí y Ahora” broadcasted by Univision. The report covers the dire situation Latino families living in the south of Texas, near the US-Mexico border face due to COVID-19.
