New Public Charge Risk Estimator from Boundless Immigration and UnidosUS

On Friday, October 11th, federal judges prevented the Trump administration’s public charge rule from going into effect while the legal challenges continue. While the vast majority of visa applicants are likely not affected by the rule, there has been understandable confusion about how the rule will impact families. UnidosUS partnered with Boundless Immigration to help green card applicants estimate their potential risk of denial under the new public charge rule using a simple online questionnaire.

UnidosUS Affiliates and partners can use the tool to help immigrants answer a few basic questions and the estimator will gauge the potential risk of being approved or denied a green card based on the responses. Questions cover such factors as age, education level, employment history, and income. After completing the questionnaire, the estimator explains if there’s a low or moderate to high risk of being impacted by the rule, then highlights any vulnerable areas in the results. The tool describes what is and isn’t working in an applicant’s favor, as well as options for improving odds of approval. You can learn more about the Public Charge Risk Estimator here:

News Release: Data Shows that Hispanic Population Growth in Colorado Contributed to the State’s Resurgence after Great Recession

Earlier this month UnidosUS released new data released today by UnidosUS on how Latinos have seen gains across several economic and health indicators since the Great Recession, but because of ongoing inequities and administrative threats, they still lag behind other Colorado residents in terms of median household income, homeownership, and health care access.
