Join Us at the Affiliate Leadership Breakfast on Tuesday, August 6th

Tuesday August 6, 2019 8:30 a.m.- 11:00 a.m.

Register Here

The Affiliate Leadership Breakfast is a high-level forum on issues of relevance for Affiliate Executive Directors, and their senior leadership and Board members, and provides a dedicated Affiliate-only space to identify ways to strategize with other UnidosUS Affiliate Network organizations.

This year’s Affiliate Leadership Breakfast will feature:

First, UnidosUS President and CEO Janet Murguía will present the UnidosUS’s 2020 Empowerment Priorities as we prepare to maximize our impact in a potentially watershed election year. We are excited to share this plan, which was informed by Affiliate input received over the past year through the different sessions on UnidosUS’s 50th Anniversary Campaign for Equal Opportunity and the strategy development process.

Second, a robust discussion will follow entitled, Next Level of Advocacy: Is a Sister 501 (c)(4) In Your Future? The UnidosUS Affiliate Network has shown immense interest in establishing a stronger presence in the advocacy and electoral spheres to enhance the voice of the communities they serve. The thought of “speaking politically” as an organization can be intimidating at first, but we have members of the Affiliate Network that prove it is possible and can have outstanding impact. In this session, we will discuss why establishing a sister 501 (c)(4) organization is an important next step for Affiliates to take their advocacy footprint to the next level. Affiliate leaders will share their experiences in establishing 501(c)(4)

organizations and the opportunities this entity can bring to engage your communities leading up to the 2020 election and beyond. Whether your organization already has a 501(c)(4) or is thinking about forming one in the future, you will walk away with a greater understanding of how a 501(c)(4) can be a powerful tool to strengthen our collective impact and ability to effect change for the Latino community.

Since this is a space exclusively for Affiliate Executive Directors, senior leadership, and board members, you are not automatically registered for this event with your conference registration, registration is required, Register here today!

Road to San Diego: Affiliate King-Chavez Works Towards Shaping Future Changemakers

In this week’sRoad to San Diego” series we continue to highlight the inspiring work San Diego Affiliates are doing in their community and the power of collaboration and leadership that is a vital part of the UnidosUS Affiliate Network.

King-Chavez Neighborhood of Schools (KCNS), one of our San Diego Affiliates, works to close the achievement gap between Latinos and White students with a preschool and six public charter schools. KCNS serves over 2,000 students in the Historic Barrio District and Downtown San Diego, and some of them attended UnidosUS’s Changemakers Summit last March in Washington, DC. These high school students have now taken what they learned back to their school to start a club and form future leaders.
