Dear UnidosUS Affiliate Leader

As we begin a new fiscal year, we invite you to renew your membership as an Affiliate of UnidosUS. To access your

membership dues invoice for fiscal year 2019 (FY19), please log in to the Affiliate Portal.

Continue to read below to learn about what our collective accomplishments in 2018, and the important work ahead of us.

2018 has been a memorable year for UnidosUS. Throughout 2018, UnidosUS sought to use all its expertise and resources to defend advance the interests of Latinos in public policy and commemorated our 50th Anniversary.

Specifically, in Fiscal year 2018 UnidosUS in collaboration with its Affiliates has:

  • Successfully blocked congressional legislative actions that stand to harm Latinos, while pursuing gains where feasible (especially in the states);
  • Intensified messaging to gain support among American voters for policies benefiting working and middle-class families, while solidifying opposition (particularly against executive actions) to efforts that continue to demonize and harm Latinos and immigrants; and
  • Built Latino political power, by growing the Latino electorate and elevating its issues, to achieve an environment where both parties respect the community. Through the LEAP program alone UnidosUS and its Affiliates (23 partners across 13 states) reached over 21,000 voter registrations

In addition to the important advocacy and program work, UnidosUS launched the 50th Anniversary Capital Campaign for Equal Opportunity to invest in the pathways to create equal opportunity for Latino Families to pursue their own American Dream. This campaign is about strengthening our leadership capacity, and positioning UnidosUSand its Affiliate network to best serve our community.

America is stronger when everyone thrives, including Latinos. There is a role for each of us to play in the success of the campaign. UnidosUS Affiliates are at the core of our unique advantage and our partnership will drive impact and success in:

  • Defining the Latino narrative
  • Scaling for impact through technology and innovation, and
  • Leading in the 21st century.

Now more than ever, we need to mobilize our communities to the polls. With midterm elections right around the corner, the Power of 18 program has become increasingly relevant to our network and community. Our large scale, canvasing effort has successfully registered over 600,000 voters over the past decadeImmediately following the election, UnidosUS will assess the new political terrain and policy landscape in Congress and in the states and develop an outreach and education plan for new lawmakers.

UnidosUS and the Affiliate Network believe that families belong together, and we will continue to use our voice to bring light to this issue. Together we have fervently opposed this policy and helped shift the media focusfrom zero-tolerance policy implementation, to children of immigrants facing the potential for family separation from deportation daily. Your involvement as an UnidosUS Affiliate ensures our efforts remain relevant and allow us to continue advocate for the rights of our community. We need your voice to help shape an accurate public opinion among – and about – Latinos. Specifically, share our Facebook posts and retweet us. Show your followers how they can join us in defending our community.

Affiliates benefit from access to the numerous opportunities in organizational capacity-building available exclusively for Affiliates such as:

  • Priority to UnidosUS funding opportunities
  • Non-Profit Management Leadership Management sessions
  • Advocacy Capacity-Building at the Annual Leaders in Action Summit in DC
  • Space to elevate Affiliate best practices through the Annual Conference or Fall Convenings
  • Participation in the Annual Affiliate of the Year Peer Exchange
  • Policy Research and briefings, tool kits on issue campaigns and additional resources
  • Weekly Digest highlighting Affiliates and UnidosUS opportunities and more.

We are stronger together and now more than ever will need to continue our work to ensure we push our community forward. We hope you will join us in 2019 by renewing your Affiliation with UnidosUS by December 1, 2018 to ensure continuous access to the benefits of the Affiliate Network.

For our collective success and for your support in making it possible, we thank you.

Sincerely,

Viviana López Green
Senior Director, Affiliate Engagement
