PODER Affiliate of the YeaR Peer Exchange

At the 2018 UnidosUS Annual Conference, UnidosUS proudly presented the Affiliate of the Year Award to PODER. This year’s Peer Exchange will feature PODER’s best practices on Building Capacity to Facilitate Immigrant Integration, including building Latino leader pipeline, local collaborative partnerships, and sustainable resource development, which has led PODER to grow from a church basement to a multi-site community-based organization. Also featured is PODER’s approach to address digital literacy skill disparities through the lens of immigrant integration and economic advancement.

We hope you join us for a showcase of PODER’s exemplary model! See a preview of the sessions down below:

  • PANEL:  Rebuilding Trust in Immigrant Communities through Partnerships: Panel discussion featuring PODER partners to highlight examples of collaboration that further our collective efforts around 1) providing a safe space for the immigrant community to convene and seek out services and 2) leveraging expertise and resources to empower the immigrant community with education and real-time, accurate information.
  • The Key to Nonprofit Sustainability: Nonprofits face a range sustainability challenges – from diversifying funding and responding to changing political climates to neighborhood gentrification and complex client needs. PODER has experienced three important inflection points to test our adaptability. In this session, we explain how we stay true to our mission while responding to the changing needs of the Latino immigrant population.
  • Breaking the (New) Digital Divide:  Addressing Digital Literacy Skill Disparities: The digital divide is not solely about uneven access to technology; rather, it is now about the uneven access to the advanced education and training needed to utilize technology for economic advancement opportunities. PODER will share some of the instructional methods we use to accomplish this and new initiatives on the horizon.
  • Data Collection for Impact Analysis: PODER has focused heavily on the creation of monitoring and evaluation tools aimed at better measuring organizational and program impact. These tools include a customized Salesforce database and a Key Performance Indicator (KPI) dashboard.
